I wouldn't have even mentioned this, except I have a MIDI-equipped Casio DH-100 Digital Horn from the late '80s and was thinking of upgrading to the new Akai USB wind controller until I discovered that it is completely unusable without a computer, and therefore (in my personal universe anyway) not a viable live performance instrument. Oh well...
