My friend just sent me this link;

www.pocket-lint.com/news/31126/dubreq-st...r-musical-instrument

So many questions, but I'll start with the obvious.
Is this a Dübreq product. I can't see a Dübreq logo on the box. But then these are obviously early pics, and the actual device doesn't match the one on the box.

And if it is a Dübreq product, how could you keep it from us?
or
Should I stop breaking news that you probably want to release in your own good time?

My initial comment on seeing that thing is that (as with the BeatBox) the keyboard is way too short for any kind of serious melodic use - most melodies, even simple ones have a range outside one octave from C to C. I love the idea of a mini-vocoder though. An external carrier input would allow a guitar or keyboard to be used with it, but that would defeat the Stylophone aspect, I guess.

Look forward to hear what Ben has to say about this one...

As I said, the box don't match the product. The pic of the device has one octave and the pic of the box shows it with over one and a half.

Hi all

Ok, should probably say something on this.... it's a somewhat complex situation, suffice to say we are not in a position to give out any info about the vocoder product at present.

The Vocoder, like the BeatBox and S1 is a product that is to be manufactured under license by Re:creation PLC. Unlike the Beatbox and S1 however at this early stage it is a product that Dubreq have had no involvement in so far.

Hopefully we can tell you more in the near future, but we genuinely don't know any more than you do at present.

We'll update everyone once we know more about if this project is genuinely going ahead and once there's some substance behind it to discuss.

Cheers

Ben
