With the Stylophone's renewed popularity skyrocketing, new Stylophone products being launched and high-profile Stylophonists such as Little Boots and Brett Domino becoming household names (of course it depends what sort of household you are...) it seems that the time is approaching to consider a celebration of all things Stylophonic.

I propose a one-day event at a UK venue, sponsored (or at least endorsed) by Dübreq, with live performances, talks and demonstrations, t-shirts, the world's largest playable Stylophone (OK - somebody needs to build it), competitions (coolest customised Stylophone?), and above all a chance to meet and talk to other Stylophone enthusiasts.

Don't ask me about funding, logistics, promotion or anything else - the basic idea is my only contribution so far (although I guess I could volunteer the services of my band), but let's have a show of hands (styli?).

Who would like to attend STYLOPHEST 2010 if it took place?

Apart for the 'sponsored by Dubreq' bit Less keen on that!

...but no, I think it's certainly do-able in some form... maybe as part of a larger festival?

I'd be happy to sell some Beatbox's for you at any future "Stylophest" event. Nominal fee and plenty of food & beer that's all I ask! lol!

Seriously, I've been to some weekend events like BugJam VW festival (upto 20,000 people) where a Stylophone tent would do very well.

Dubreq, hire a van, get it painted up, send me out to different towns and cities showing off the old-school stylo and the Beatbox, would be great publicity and prolly sell well too!

this sounds a great idea. now that the stylophone is becoming more popular again i think the call for this type of thing will be getting big.

i think dubreq are right to think of introducing it as part of a larger event as an introduction. (plus it will probably mean it won't cost them as much cash!)

it gets my vote.

As Mr Dubreq himself knows im trying to get my own business off the ground and am hoping to be renting a property in southampton early 2010 ...

If all goes to plan and before I rip the hell out of the place it would be the perfect venue to hold a stylofest
